About the project
Future Food 2224
Future Food Design Festival for Kids 'Future Food 2224' organized by VšÄ® RasmelÄ—, is a forward-thinking initiative dedicated to enhancing children's eating experiences in schools, promoting healthy nutrition, and encouraging creative thinking about food, sustainability, and future-oriented topics. By merging art, science, and technology, the festival invites children to explore the future of food—how it will nourish our bodies, inspire our minds, and shape our culture. The event aims to engage over 1,000 children from across Lithuania, reaching an estimated 11,000 museum visitors and over 400,000 people through social media, partners, and influencers.

Festival Origins and Goals
The idea for the festival was born out of the international VIVITA Vista project, where children tackled real-world challenges by creating products or services. This journey led Rasmelė, with Rasa (then 9 years old) and Amelija (then 11 years old), to explore the concept of future food by developing a food machine for children under the mentorship of Veronika Guželytė. Through collaboration with designers and food experts, they realized that the knowledge and experiences gained could be shared with other children, initiating a culture of co-creation, innovation, and responsible consumption.
The festival's mission is to empower children to make informed choices about food, understand the significance of daily habits, and actively participate in creating a sustainable future. By integrating food education into creative and interactive activities, the festival encourages young participants to envision the role food will play in the world of tomorrow.

Visitors experience different stages of digestion, linking body functions with food and nutrition themes. The installation features sculptures, models, and interactive stations, encouraging engagement with topics such as healthy eating, sustainability, and the future of food. The project emphasizes using sustainable materials and involves children in creating artistic and educational expressions of scientific concepts. -

Educational Impact and Sustainability

The "Future Food 2224" installation and festival activities emphasise learning through creative exploration. The installation covers approximately 150 square meters and simulates the journey through the human digestive system, with sections representing the mouth, stomach, intestines, and other digestive organs. Each area provides interactive, multisensory experiences to help children and visitors understand human biology, nutrition, and sustainable practices.

The project highlights the importance of environmentally conscious choices by using sustainable and reusable materials in the installation's construction. The children involved in creating the installation learned about sustainability principles, applied them practically, and developed skills in critical thinking and problem-solving.
